Omotesando Ukai-tei ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

DSC2123

On my third day in Tokyo, I walked into the Chanel building in Omotesando.

DSC2127

I walked past the store and straight up to the restaurant. Because that is just the kind of girl I am.

 DSC2132

This set of spoon and fork guards greeted me as the elevator doors opened.
At that very instance I knew Ukai-tei is serious about its food.

Ukai-tei is part of the Ukai group which also operates restaurants that specialize in charcoal
grilled chicken, seasonal Japanese cuisine, and tofu, apart from teppanyaki and steaks.
I have previously dined at the beautiful Toufuya Ukai near the Tokyo Tower.

Upon arriving at the teppanyaki restaurant, you will be led to a salon where you are
to rest a bit and sip some tea

DSC2153

When the staff feels you are ready, he will walk you to the room where the action happens

Embroidered napkin. So special.

To keep things simple and easy, I ordered the Abalone and Ukai Beef Course - the signature 8-course set at Ukai-tei.

The menu says all sets come with "Ukai Top Quality Beef."

Do not be fooled. At Ukai-tei, top quality is NOT the best quality.

You can upgrade to "Ukai Best Quality Beef" for an additional 4,320 yen.

Since you already traveled all the way to Tokyo, of course, upgrade you must!

My meal started with an appetizer of perfectly cooked shrimps in avocado mousse

DSC2177

Next came this superb fish dish, which I forgot the name of. Sorry.

DSC2179

But I still remember the texture of the flesh. It was soooo very tender!

DSC2173

Impressed, I asked the chef if I could meet the fish.
He probably thought I was a weirdo, but happily obliged.

The next course destroyed me.

I still get multiple orgasms looking at this photo
@#$$%&*#!@@QYBSHAVKSFAL:D{#&Y!!!!   @%^#&*@(#   *&#*)  (W@YW%$#%!!!!

The Chilled Onion Cream Soup was the perfect cool-me-down after such intense pleasure

DSC2190

And then the chef presented this to me

DSC2192

My God!!! It was alive and working its muscles!

DSC2194

He seasoned the abalone

DSC2199

Covered it in seaweed

DSC2201

And buried the whole thing in salt

DSC2224

After a few minutes, TA-DA!!!

DSC2230

He arranged the seaweed on my plate and sliced up the abalone

DSC2234

And poured his secret seaweed sauce that I am sure contained a lot of butter.
I finished everything anyway.

DSC2239

IT WAS GLORIOUS.

DSC2235

The abalone liver deserves its own photo. So decadent, these little things!

DSC2242

And then, the main event. UKAI BEST QUALITY SIRLOIN.

DSC2247

The beef was seasoned simply in salt and pepper, seared on both sides, and covered
with a copper lid until it was cooked to a medium rare

DSC2248

I could really have more than these 7 pieces

DSC2253

They were tremendously tender, rich, and flavorful

DSC2268

TOO GORGEOUS!
I swear I took a photo of each precious piece before putting it gingerly into my mouth

Ukai and I

DSC2273

Obligatory rice dish after every teppanyaki meal

DSC2275

But this was no simple rice dish. It was topped with anago.

DSC2283

The sea eel was so soft it broke at the slightest nudge of my chopsticks

DSC2287

The most playful miso soup

Tea in a pretty cup

DSC2314

And just like in all proper, old school teppanyaki restaurants, desserts were served in a
separate, more elaborate, carpeted room

DSC2316

They also have outdoor seats, but I prefer air-conditioning versus Tokyo heat

DSC2296

There were 5 choices for dessert. It was easy. There was only one item with the word
"chocolate" in it

DSC2297

I wasn't expecting something this beautiful when the menu simply said "Chocolate Cake."
Everything on this plate was divine - the chocolate mouse, the layer of cake, ganache,
ice cream, hazelnut, cacao nibs, and every single dust of the cocoa powder.
I finished it all.

DSC2304

After my server took away my empty plate, he presented me with
this trolley and announced that I could take anything and everything
I wanted, and that he took great pleasure in serving me.
OMG! Standing in front of me was The Perfect Man!!!

DSC2306

I didn't want to scare him away so I asked for three tiny pieces only. He watched me
as I ate each piece in the most ladylike manner I could manage, wiping the corners of
my mouth daintily after each bite. I also ate my chocolates with a fork! LOL!

I guess it worked.

The Perfect Man walked up to me, knelt down on one knee, looked into my eyes and smiled ever so sweetly.

He took out something from his back pocket and presented it to me.

OMG THE MOMENT I HAD BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

I started hyperventilating and I swear I almost fainted when I saw how big it was.

DSC2309

 THE BILL! HAHAHA!

It was worth every yen.
