Duck & Buvette now occupies the space where Cafe Provencal was. I remember enjoying
the food at the former restaurant, but somehow it had gotten old. I am glad the owners
decided to breathe new life into it.
When you eat at a restaurant named Duck & Buvette, it is but natural to start your meal
with Duck Rillette
Underneath the layer of duck fat is shredded duck house-cured by the chef. It was good on
bread and topped with a dab of grain mustard to counteract its richness.
A little Truffle Roasted Cauliflower break before we proceeded with our mains.
The vegetables were nicely browned and crunchy, and the smell was intoxicating!
I can imagine bringing a jumbo bag of this to munch on in the movies. Healthy and yum.
And the star of Duck & Buvette Show - The Duck Confit!
Half a duck beautifully fried so that the skin was crisp and extremely tasty, and the meat
underneath remained surprisingly moist and tender.
I had to put down my fork and disrupt my eating to take another photo for you to see.
Not a big fan of poultry but this sure made a convert out of me.
Duck Ratatouille Rice
I would have picked a chocolate dessert if Achi Chris did not suggest we try Earl's Cheesecake.
Was I glad she did. The cheesecake was so light and creamy I could have finished the whole
thing on my own.
It was perfect with my single origin Flecha Roja Costa Rica pour over coffee
Duck & Buvette serves Intelligentsia Coffee from Chicago.
Aside from Black Cat and El Diablo, they will be featuring a new
single origin each month. I can't wait to try all.
Achi Chris and I and our ducktastic lunch! :)
