Shimokitazawa ♥ ♥

When I travel, I like to stay outdoors. I like to walk the streets, hang out at parks, wander around, admire the architecture, the nature, the people, breathe fresh air, eat street food, take the train… things that I don't really get to do in Manila.

I enjoy discovering new places, little alleys, small coffee shops, I like looking at window displays, signage, lamp posts, graffitis, roofs, brick walls, vending machines, and manholes.

Since I already did all the major tourist attractions on previous trips, I decided to venture out farther this time.

I spent the afternoon in Shimokitazawa.

Shimokita, as the locals call it, is a small town in Setagaya, the western part of Tokyo. It is Harajuku's tamer, quieter, no-frills sister.

There are many small theaters, secondhand clothing stores, record shops, cafes, restaurants, thrift stores, grocers, and also a shop specializing in nothing but eggs!

I joined the crowd in lining up for pancake pie, and had a very nice cup of joe in an old-school Japanese cafe.

Will post about these two places separately, just sharing with you some photos I took around the area.
