Le Jardin ♥ ♥

I heard a few not-so-great reviews about Le Jardin, but it is just something that I had to try for myself.

I am a little stubborn like that.

Plus I saw photos of the restaurant online. It is beautiful. I am a sucker for beautiful dining spaces.

Even the ladies room is nice

For dinner, you choose from 3 or 4 or 5 courses.
We picked four (2 starters, 1 entree, and 1 dessert).

All sets come with complimentary truffled egg. It was a delicious way to start.

Le Jardin does not sell wine by the glass. You order either half bottle
or a whole bottle. We went with our server's recommendation, a
2008 Domaine Marquise des Mures Saint-Chinian

DSC4272

Lobster Salad - perfectly cooked so it was moist and succulent and...
gone in one bite. Seriously, it was so tiny it was literally gone in one bite!

DSC4275

French Duck Liver Three Ways - gone in two bites

DSC4279

Burgundy Snails in Garlic and Parsley Butter - one of the three snails I ate had sand in it. Ack!

DSC4280

Lamb Lasagna - this was really tasty, but then again the size left so much to be desired.
You do see that it is only as big as 3 parsley leaves, right?

DSC4284

Lemon Sorbet with Tomato and Basil Oil - I truly believe they forgot to put the lemon in :P

DSC4289

I know Le Jardin is not trying to be some fancy shmancy fine dining place, but I am sure even I,
the unsophisticated and inexperienced klutz, can plate a better-looking dish than this.

"Waiter, what is that thing on my Veal Cheek and Foie Gras?"
"Ma'am, that is a garnish."

OH.
Anyway, the veal cheeks were dry.

The other entree looked like this

Good thing I really enjoyed the medium rare Herb Crusted Lamb Tenderloin.
So tender and gamey!

All sets also came with a complimentary plate of house made cheeses.
I appreciate the generous portions, but really, they were all one and the same cow cheese
topped with different ingredients. I felt like the kitchen was playing a joke on us!

The Chocolate Fondant was rather forgettable. So unlike me, but I totally snubbed this
dessert made with my favorite food in the world.

But this Tarte Tatin I loved. Very much. The stewed apple mixed with caramel ice cream
was the highlight of the night. I just pretended not to notice the red stain on my plate.
