My first reaction when I entered Twist was "Ooohh, cute place! I want that chair in my room!"
After a while I got a bit claustrophobic. There was too much going on even if the restaurant
was empty. The color of the place also made me feel like I was wearing blue-green lens.
The wall hurt my eyes
I tried to look down, but the placemat made my eyes bleed. Ouch.
So I decided to look up the whole evening. I loved the ceiling design.
And the kitchen theater
The service toasts were sweet. Apparently, this set the tone (slash flavor) for the rest of our dinner.
80% of the dishes were sweet. Ack! The soups, the pastas, the buffalo wings,
THE TAGALOG BISTECCA! Que horror!
The drinks, in fairness, were enjoyable.
Mushroom Soup - thick and sweet
Rustic Pomodoro - chunky and sweet
French Onion Soup - I will let the photo speak for itself
Warm Arugula Spinach Salad, Fried Buffalo Cheese, Gorgonzola - probably the best dish
of the night for me
East Meets West - the blue cheese dip helped balanced the sweetness of the buffalo wings
Tagalog Bistecca - I know the menu said muscovado was used in this dish, but man, this was
overly saccharine, like candied beef tocino!
At this point, our feisty Achi Donna was getting so frustrated she said that if she were to blog about this dinner, she would say nothing except "TWIST: DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!"
Exclamation points hers. Lol.
We all appreciated the garlic red rice
Paella Pasta
The Artisanal Cheese Macaroni was comforting
Tuyo Pasta
Herb Grilled Pork Chops - too dry, too tough, a challenge to chew and swallow
Oriental Salad
Some of us didn't bother anymore and slept through dinner :D
Famous Twist Cookies - speculoos, kimchi-nutella, matcha blanco, honey walnut oats,
triple xocolat, and lemon peel cheesecake. Interesting flavors, cute presentation!
I love that they serve siphon coffee!
Thank God for Dianne's birthday cakes which made up for the less than amazing dinner.
Our family loves Everyday Mom Cafe Mocha Cake and Estrel's Caramel Cake. ♥
"The Carnavalle"
Homemade by my cousin Nikko for her macaron-loving sister! :)
Birthday giveaways were, of course, more macarons!
Happy Happy Birthday, Dianne!!!
