I have been hearing about Gino's forever, but no matter how much I love a proper brick oven
pizza, it cannot get me to do one thing - travel all the way to Katipunan.
So imagine how ecstatic I was when they finally opened in Makati. I immediately suggested
the place to Leslie for our lunch date with our Instagram friends @thanislim and @maryoch
who were visiting from Brunei. And guess what? Leslie was also thinking the same!
Turned out we were not the only excited people. Look at the lunch crowd at Gino's!
People were spilling in nonstop until about 2pm so make sure to call for reservations.
Spotted: Chef and owner Jutes Templo in the kitchen.
I appreciate it when chefs are very hands-on.
The menu is very simple, but it has everything you will ever want to eat at Gino's.
Like this homemade Burrata Caprese. Or anything burrata. You can opt to have it with
the house salad or summer salad or bread or cold cuts or bolognese... I don't care.
JUST HAVE IT ALREADY!
Because look how soft and creamy it is inside. The stringy curds of mozzarella and fresh cream
is literally a bundle of joy!
We ordered 3 pizzas and 1 pasta to share among 4 people.
The pizza crust is soft and pillowy with a nicely charred and crisp edge. Actually, it could be more crisp, but I am already very ok with this. I recommend all three we had.
Bianca Verde - olive oil, garlic, kesong puti, ricotta, parmesan, basil, arugula.
Next time I will order this and double all the toppings! I LOVE CHEEEEEESSSSE.
BOMB - Balsamic Onions, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Blue Cheese
See how Gino's doesn't scrimp on mushrooms? Throughly enjoyed this one, too, although
I would have liked more blue cheese to cut through the sweetness of the balsamic
How beautiful are the blisters on the crust!
SMEGG - homemade sausage, egg, gouda, cream.
This was clearly everyone's favorite.
So clearly everyone's favorite that I only got to eat a single slice because,
apparently, someone stole my second piece!!!
Oh, you MUST drizzle everything with the chili honey
And then sprinkle it with chili flakes if you love hotness like I do
5 slices. How much I loved it. Could've eaten more except I couldn't locate another slice.
Thanis' plate. HHHHHRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!
Thanis Lim is a food blogger from Brunei. Check out his site here. He said 1. He loves Manila,
and 2. There is no fresh milk in his country, therefore, no fresh cheeses, and no pizza topped
with fresh cheeses. Okay, fine, Thanis, I forgive you for the pizza robbery. LOL! :P
So amusing how shy and modest Jutes is. Hello??? You make one of
the best pizzas in Manila!
Salted Egg Fettucine with bacon, cream and parmesan - I loved the chewiness of the fresh
pasta but wanted less bacon (gasps!!!!) and sharper salted egg flavor
For dessert, Nutella Soup
You just pinch and pull and dip the pizza crust bowl in the chocolate-hazelnut soup.
Carbs and chocolate overkill!

Can't wait for you to visit us again, T & M! :)
