You all know how much I love The Upper House in Hong Kong. Aside from the fabulous breakfast at Cafe Grey Deluxe (see my favorites here), I adore the room, the bed, the dresser, THE MAXI-BAR, the his and hers sink, the toiletries, the slippers, THE TUB WITH THE HONG KONG SKYLINE VIEW!!! I could stay in the room all day even when Pacific Place and La Maison du Chocolat are just one minute walk away. Click here to see my post on the Studio 80, and here to see The Upper Suite.
And if Hong Kong has The Upper House, Beijing boasts of The Opposite House.
We made the Swire Hotel our home in the Peking Duck City.
Compared to The Upper House, The Opposite House is HUGE!
This is just ⅓ of the lobby.
It felt more like an art gallery than a hotel
I saw a familiar face in the sculpture
High ceilings and art installations
This dress hanging from above is a bit creepy at night.
I love it with all my heart.
Another piece that called out to me
My favorite, however is this pair of his and hers artwork by Li Xiao Feng. He used shards of porcelain recovered from ancient archaeological sites to create these genius pieces:
A Mao Jacket
A Qi Pao or Cheongsam
A closer look at the porcelain. I couldn't stop taking photos of it from all angles.
And I couldn't help but do this.
"Sorry Qi Pao, AKIN SYA!" Lol! :P
The Opposite House also has a fitness center for those who are interested
State-of-the-art gym
A 22-meter stainless steel pool Frances swam in on one out of our 10-day stay at the hotel.
I wanted to as well, but I had to go around the hotel to take photos. All for this blog's sake.
Har har har. :D
View from the 3rd floor
Hallway to the rooms
A very handsome and heavy wooden door
Our Studio 70 Room
Work desk with iPad
Closet and drawers
Hers and hers sink and open shower (EEEP!!!)
At least the toilet has a door
Because there is only a very sheer white cloth separating the shower area and bedroom,
we decided that the best way to avoid seeing each other naked is to take a bath at the same
time, with our backs to each other.
I used the shower. Frances used this tub.
Appelles toiletries from Australia
Everything in the mini bar is free!
These are what I brought home with me to Manila. The wasabi green peas are the bomb!!!
Not in photo are Loaker hazelnut wafers and tins of jelly beans.
My Roomie and I :)
