We heard the lines at Kettle can be quite upsetting for hungry stomachs so we arrived early to beat
the competition. What can I say, our stomachs are our masters and we're cutthroat that way.
We were all ladies and so we ordered up a storm.
Baked Brie
The soft cheese was smothered with forest berries jam and encased in a puff pastry which
I thought was too thick and not flaky enough. The drizzling of balsamic syrup gave life to
the dish.
Leslie told me good things about the Oven Roasted Squash Soup, so we
ordered 3 bowls for the table to share. Unfortunately, the soup was extremely
salty that day. Achi Donna added water into hers. I, on the other hand, was
afraid to take a second sip. We all know water retention is a bitch.
The Clam Chowder was also overly salty. Seemed like someone in the kitchen had too much
fun with the mineral. The chef responded almost immediately to my instagram post (yikes!)
and promised to look into it and make the necessary adjustments. I love a restaurant that is
committed to serving the best quality food possible. This merits repeat visits!
Peach Iced Tea
All the other dishes we ordered were good (and seasoned just right. Lol!). I appreciated how tender the lamb and beef were.
Pork and Potato Strips
Australian Lamb Adobo with Truffle Mushroom Brown Rice
US Angus Shortribs braised in Cerveza Negra and chipotle barbecue sauce,
garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw
Chorizo Vodka Penne
Shrimp Po' Boy
And, of course, the ever popular Kettle Buttermilk Fried Chicken.
It was as crunchy and crispy and golden and tender and juicy as everyone claims.
And the best way to eat it is like how I did: covered in gravy and honey and alternating
with the addicting sweet potato fries that came with the Shrimp Po' Boy (scroll up to see).
We had 3 orders of this deep fried goodness.
A complimentary slice of Pineapple Upside Down Cake from the management to make up
for the soup boo-boo. Thank you!
The girls who lunch and Jihan's vavavoom rockstuds! :)
