January is the "Tasting Australia" month at The Peninsula Manila
And what great way to kick off the month-long celebration than with a kitchen party?
The Peninsula dressed up its banquet kitchen to look like a magical rainforest.
It was so romantic I imagined having my wedding in there one day. Lol!
And this would be my bridal bouquet!
Not the grooms!!! Hahaha! These gentlemen are:
Director of Public Relations Mariano Garchitorena, Executive Chef Richard Green (Australian,
of course! He was also named "Best Chef of the Year" in the Middle East in 2012), and
Executive Sous Chef Eduardo Maddela
Some dishes the chefs prepared:
Cheeses and fruits
Smoked Midfield lamb loin on sweet lemon Aspen chili jelly
Blue swimmer crab and avocado tartlet
Chicken consommé with red claw wontons
Barramundi and vegetable spring rolls with sweet quandong chutney
Roasted Tasmanian ocean trout. This was beautiful!
They stuffed the fish into these flaky pastry cups and poured some
wild dill pepper sauce and torched the tops
Tasmanian trout pasty innards. Yum!
Australian grain fed beef tenderloin, red wine and bush tomato jus with mini herb damper
I had two
And then I got smarter and asked only for the meat without The Devil
a.k.a. Carbs
Dessert was a spread of pavlova topped with strawberries and cream, raspberry, white and
dark chocolate lamingtons, and homemade Tim Tams
Yes, you heard me right. HOMEMADE TIM TAMS!!! Rich and decadent and smooth and crisp.
I couldn't get enough of this but I was too shy to go back for more.
With Grace, my newest, bestest friend
Because she gave me a take home box full of love! Thank you, Grace! :)
If you can't go to Australia this January, go to The Peninsula!
Ambassador Bill Tweddell will be very happy :)
