I don’t normally crave deep fried food. Well, except before I get on a plane. Luckily, Hong Kong Airport has more than enough choices to satisfy my lust.
If I want fried chicken, I run to Popeyes.
My staple at this New Orleans fried chicken house is the 2-piece spicy chicken meal with Cajun fries and biscuit. I am a white meat snob and always request for leg and thigh parts, or if I’m feeling lucky, thigh and thigh. I start by peeling off all the crunchy golden skin and putting it aside in a safe place on my tray. Then I attack the meat while alternately stuffing my face with those tasty Cajun potato sticks. When all that’s left are bones, I give my full and undivided attention to the skin - the glorious spicy chicken skin. I always save the best for last!
Of course, I also order two extra pieces of the fluffy buttermilk biscuits. Drizzled generously with honey, they make for the perfect dessert!
My other favorite pre-flight food is deep fried pork. Click on the link to find out where: http://roamtheglobe.ph/favorite-hong-kong-eats/
