It is unfortunate that I had never been to the old Cowrie Grill at Manila Hotel before it closed
down to give way to Cafe Ilang Ilang.
Mom said it was most famous for sea shells. Of course, that is because she doesn't eat beef!
It was a beautiful setting for our Christmas dinner with Kim's family, who is soon to be
our family, too! :)
I liked the sun-dried tomato butter. Would have been even better if the rolls were warm.
The Fresh Mushroom Cappuccino with herb flatbread crouton could be less peppery and
more earthy
I like watching my food being prepared tableside and from scratch
so I ordered the famous caesar salad
The Maitre'D Caesar Salad tasted as gorgeous as it looked
Dad and Auntie Tess each had the Chilean Seabass with orange beurre blanc, fruity heart of
palm salad, and laksa rice. OMG, THE LAKSA RICE!!! It was the most delicious thing at
Cowrie Grill I daresay!
Mom's Australian Lamb Cutlets were unfortunately overcooked.
Her side of Mushroom Risotto was wet and tasty. Too tasty, if I may add.
Uncle Simeon and Jerwin each had the Roast US Angus Prime Rib, New York Cut
Jerwin seemed quite happy with his steak, but agreed that our
Tomahawk was a lot better.
The growing boy also had a side of pasta
Jr and Kim shared this Bone-In US Angus Tomahawk Ribeye. Of course, Jr didn't share it
equally with his fiancé, but you know what they say - Love is blind. Kim was visionless.
Or she just pretended not to notice.
In our case, Jamie was blind.
My EQUAL share of the perfectly medium rare and wonderfully seasoned steak
I never felt the need for the peppercorn, béarnaise and mushroom sauces
The tastiest parts were those hugging the bone. Therefore, it was essential for me to do this -
hog the bone! Sorry you had to witness my bad table manners.
Another item sold because I am a sucker for tableside preparation. This time it included flames.
I love watching people play with fire! ;)
Baked Alaska
Inside the meringue shell was vanilla and strawberry ice cream with a little bit of sponge cake.
This tasted like… um… frozen cream.
The Crepe Suzette was as unexciting as it looked :P
Family merger happening soon!!! :)
