Okay, that is a lousy photo of the restaurant's facade. Sorry!
In case you can't read it, the white light says "Rambla" :)
I am liking the chic interiors of this modern eatery, the clean lines, black and whites...
but not the acoustics. All evening we had to listen to conversations of people at nearby
tables. It was like involuntary eavesdropping. I'm sure they also picked up a few of our
dirty secrets. :P
I imagine it would be fun to sit at the bar and watch the chefs do their sexy thing in the kitchen ;)
Beside me was a green bicycle
Our favorites were the first three dishes. The fourth one was pretty good, too.
Spherical olives marinated in extra virgin olive oil. You order this by the piece.
It was olives, pureed, and then shaped back into an olive using magic! When the thin membrane
popped, there was an explosion of saltiness, sourness, oiliness, like a child cried a bucket of
tears in my mouth. This reminded me of the molecular xiao long bao I had at Bo Innovation.
That was incredible!!! Click here to see the amazing dinner prepared by HK's Demon Chef.
Ricotta gnudis with seasonal mushroom sauce, rosemary and hazelnuts - these creamy balls
of cheese went so beautifully with the earthiness of the mushrooms and sharpness of the
parmesan crisps. Every bite was 100% pure decadence.
Foie gras mousse with caramelized apple and coffee-baileys foam
Get a crostini and top it with all the elements. Smooth, buttery, meaty, sweet, crunchy, fruity.
I was still scraping the plate long after the crostinis were gone. Heavenly!
Octopus carpaccio with hummus, red onions, coriander and sweet paprika.
A very well thought of dish. The octopus was also tender and so thinly sliced.
Crispy Catalan flatbread topped with smokey grilled aubergine, bell peppers and butifarra.
The bread was all nice, thin and crisp, but the whole thing was such a mess to eat!
The sausage was also overly salty. I wish we chose goat cheese topping instead.
Inside out cannelloni with wagyu and smoked aubergine. I thought this lacked oomph.
I wanted to ask for a bottle of tabasco.
Spanish crispy fried dough with warm chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Too heavy and oily.
I ate the churros just so I could get to the chocolate.
Frances and I, rumarambla on a Thursday night :P
We were not too happy with our dessert so we walked over to Grace Park to do a take two.
Lemon Walnut Cream Pie
And my favorite Quatro Leches which always, always saves the day!
