Back at Ronin on our first night in Hong Kong because I just love the food so much!!!
The Kagoshima beef was the best dish I had last trip. I could not stop thinking about it since.
We were a group of 5 this time so we ordered omakase to make our lives easier.
Some of the dishes I had already tried before. Wish I remembered to tell the chef so I could try more new items.
Still, an excellent dinner from start to finish.
Charred grapes with tosazu
Shigoku oyster, red shiso vinegar, sudachi
Assorted sashimi
Ishigaki dai spotted parrot fish sashimi, spring onion, ginger
Shima aji sashimi, fresh wasabi
Tai seabream sashimi, karasumi, yuzu
Ika squid sashimi, cucumber, kabosu
Maple old fashioned
Red snapper sashimi, white onion, spring onion
Flower crab, mitsuba, uni
The crab meat was plump and the uni so creamy. The best part was all the hard work had been
done so I just needed to scoop and swallow.
Razor clams, spring onion, ginger, crispy rice
Sardines, pickled eggplant, tomato, cauliflower
White ale battered kisu, kimchi mayo, and a shot of the white ale used for the batter
Triggerfish, honey, kyoto shichimi, chestnut chips. The fish was sweet and meaty,
the dehydrated chestnut chips addictive.
Ginger-infused umeshu
Tilefish, daikon, ponzu
Sanma, mentaiko, ume, shiso
The sanma was so fatty and oily! Topped with mentaiko and a dab of plum paste,
these rolls were intense!!!
Tokyo turnip, clams, chorizo, miso. I thought this one was forgettable.
Quail, sansho, orange. Very moist and tender.
Udon with mentaiko and shiso.
Each fat and chewy strand was coated with creamy, buttery mentaiko. This was just so awesome!!!
I had another umeshu infused with I-forgot-what. Lol!
By this time my memory was already failing me.
But I did remember the Kagoshima beef! It wasn't included in the omakase so, of course, we had to order it!
Kagoshima beef, maitake, egg yolk
So velvety and flavorful and look at that marbling!!!
Roll it with the earthy maitake, crunchy garlic chips, scallion ribbons and enrobed it in silky yolk.
Every little piece was an explosion of flavors and textures in my mouth. BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!
Our super nice server Mamta gave us a complimentary round of this sweet sake
When you go to Ronin, make sure to say hi to Mamta. She's the best! :)
Another round for the road. I was too happy to remember what this was. :P
