I've been wanting to bring Mom to Maria Luisa's Garden Room ever since my first time at this
charming little place. Read about it here.
It is the perfect venue for our mother-daughter dinner date
The restaurant is so pretty it's practically a doll house come to life!
The complimentary snacks of salmon and mango on pumpernickel were delicious.
I had four. Mom had two.
Escargot Bourguignon. The slippery little suckers were tasty albeit not as plump and juicy
as I would have wanted.
Mom shot me disapproving looks when I soaked my crusty bread in the garlic-parsley butter sauce.
I did it many more times. She gave up, exasperated, after I took my third slice from the basket.
The breads at Maria Luisa's are the bomb!
Mom had Pan-fried Scallops, Pumpkin and Sun-Dried Tomato on Asparagus Risotto.
The scallops were overcooked.
My Merlot Braised Oxtail, however, was perfect in every way. Rich, hearty, full of flavor, and
fall-off-the-bone tender. Paired with creamy bacon and pimiento risotto, it was a match
made in heaven!
Lemon Crepe to end the meal
This was before my lusty public display of affection for the butter. Mom was still smiling.
Thank you, Uncle Richard and Auntie Susan, for sneakily taking care of our bill!
