The plan was to grab a quick lunch upon arriving Taipei so I could do my bank and government stuff, and Frances could do her Ikea stuff.
The plan changed as soon as I spotted this tsukemen shop.
There were lines on both sides of Mitaseimenjo. No way this was gonna be a simple quick lunch.
But I didn't care. I LOVE tsukemen.
Don't you just adore Taiwanese fashion? :P
After about 25 minutes we were finally seated. Yay! :)
The menu is very simple. You choose between original and spicy dipping broths,
and then you choose the serving size of your noodles: S, M, L or XL.
Prices are the same for small, medium and large.
Add NT$40 if you have an extra large appetite.
How to enjoy Mitaseimenjo Tsukemen:
1. Check the firmness of the noodles. Eat a few strands to appreciate the sweet wheat flavor.
2. Grab and dip ¾ of the noodles into the broth and slurp away.
3. Explore and experiment on different eating styles to fit your taste.
4. Add stock to the remaining dipping broth and drink like soup.
But first we prepped our tummies with some appetizers:
Gyoza
Mitaseimenjo Gyoza which was actually gyoza topped with Japanese mayo and bonito flakes
Chicken Karaage
Aji Tamago
And then, the main event.
Frances had Original Tsukemen
I had Spicy Tsukemen
And therefore we are Hot and Not. Hahahaha!!! :P
Seriously, I have never tasted anything like this before. Look at my rich and thick and spicy broth.
It clung with all its might to my fat and firm and chewy noodles. Super addicting stuff!
To this day I still dream about this incredible meal.
