Sushi Oyama ♥ ♥ ♥

DSC04139

Sushi Oyama is said to serve the freshest sushi and sashimi in all of Shanghai.

The place is dark and simple...

… and looks like a temple

Buddha, is that you? :D

I was hoping to sit at the sushi bar to catch the sushi action, but we were given a private room,
much to the dismay of the oldies in our group

It was a struggle for them to get in and out and up. They had to do special maneuvers like this.

DSC04167

And had to help push each other out

DSC04150

I didn't want to part with RoboCop so our kind server wrapped my foot in a plastic bag

DSC04292

Spiffy, isn't it? :)

Omakase Menu. Yup, we're gonna eat all of that!!!

DSC04177

Broad bean soup with kelp - this was so good I wanted to cry! The shot of soup packed
so much flavor and gave a very luxurious sensation in my mouth. I could easily finish
a whole cauldron of this.

DSC04188

Sashimi Platter - so fresh and sweet especially the hotate and amaebi

DSC04191

Fresh wasabi and pickled ginger

Because we couldn't sit at the sushi bar, a sushi chef came to us!
Not exactly Chef Oyama, but he was good enough.

DSC04195

He prepared our nigiri sushi right next to me! I wanted to steal a few slices of fish but he was
always looking.

The sushi procession:

Then he came back again, this time bringing a different set of fishes

Shima Aji - striped jack

Botan ebi - my favorite!!!!!!

Minced fatty tuna and yellow radish temaki

By this time, the only course left from our omakase menu was the soup. And I was only 60% full.

The server heard my concern and brought out some rolls to fill me up. Yay!

I had seven pieces.
