For our last meal in Shanghai, we decided to eat just around the corner from our hotel before we head to the airport.
Shanghai Uncle serves modern Shanghainese fare. The place is big, clean, has floral red chairs...
And a big screen tv featuring different Shanghainese delicacies
I usually do not like it when they mess with the traditional, but this Uncle did it really well. I find myself enjoying the creative twists he made to classic Shanghainese staples.
Everything we ordered was delicious.
Dried Bean Curd Mixed with Aster and Salmon
Jelly Fish
Shanghai Traditional Smoked Fish - don't be fooled by its ugliness, this is one of the best
versions I've tried this trip
Pea, Purple Yam and Pumpkin Mousse
Lion Head Meatballs Wrapped in Cabbage
Homemade Baby Pork Ribs with Pine Nuts - as tender as a baby's butt
Razor Clams
Hello there, Mr. Yummy Clam!
Stir Fried Dou Miao in XO Paste
Steamed Pork Belly with Garlic
Uncle's Homemade Crispy Flaming Pork - this is our lechon kawali on steroids.
Extra crunchy, extra tender, extra tasty. Boom! Boom! Boom!
Fried Scallops and Fried Shrimps with Sesame Pockets and XO Sauce - you must not miss this
crispy goodness!
Uncle's Family Seafood Pot
Pickled Cabbage Noodle Soup
Shanghai Fried Dumplings
Look at the juices! So good, but I think Yang's is still the best. Hehe.
Goodbye, Shanghai and Shanghai Uncle! We'll be back!
