I decided to make Sacre Coeur my last tourist stop of the day.
I heard it's quite a romantic experience watching the sun set with the city of Paris as your backdrop.
I planned to have the most romantic time all by myself. :)
Montmartre-Anvers
The small street going up to the basilica was packed with all sorts of people...
Silver people...
Gold people… and normal people having their pictures taken with their
shiny metallic counterparts
And there it was, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart
While other people climbed all the way up, I did the smart thing.
I took the funicular.
This Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus sits atop Montmartre hill -
the highest point in Paris
The basilica towers over the city, making it a favorite destination for locals and tourists alike
I could only imagine how beautiful and romantic it gets here at night
Naturally, there were lovers everywhere!
Here...
There...
EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
Even these two people seemed so in love to me! :P
People gathered on the steps
Listened to performers sing...
Play instruments...
Some bought beers
A few brought their own wines
Look at this guy doing exhibitions with his ball
He took off his jacket and break-danced a bit
And played with his ball again while at it...
Then he took off his shirt and swung himself around the pole
And played again with his ball. Whoa!
I can't begin to tell you how much I love this place. Really, I could stay here forever.
Except I was too scared to ride the subway alone when it gets darker so I left just before the sun set.
Stairs. UGH!
