My brother and his fiancee Kim got me a lot of goodies from their recent trip to Japan - Japanese cheesecake, Japanese red bean pancakes, matcha kitkat, matcha pocky, milk candies, beef curry, etc. etc. etc… but this one's my favorite of all:
Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am amazed at how the Japanese take packaging so seriously and make sure they do everything
so that my precious cakes survive the trip from Tokyo to Osaka to Manila as fresh as possible
and in one piece. Ice pouches were installed inside and outside the box!
Sorry, I have absolutely no idea what this is called :P
Love the chocolate mousse, but not very much the bottom cake layer filled with sour fruits.
Ack!
And we meet again, Bamboo, my very first love! Mwah mwah mwah!!!
The real deal matcha biscuit joconde layered with the real deal matcha buttercream and
dark chocolate ganache. Bitter and barely sweet, it is the perfect marriage between
90% matcha and 10% chocolate. I live for this.
And my favorite of the three is the Valencia
(Doesn't it look especially pretty all ruffled and wrinkly?)
Light orange mousse, almond cocoa sponge, milk chocolate mousse,
praline feuilletine, and hazelnut dacquoise. Never thought I'd enjoy the
citrusy-chocolatey combination, but this was truly a revelation.
It reminds me that true love may sometimes me tangy, but will always
be nutty, playful and sweet. :)
