It's been there for years, but it was my first time to do the Crossover Buffet a few weeks ago. It felt really weird carrying my plates up and down the stairs, across the lobby, past the reception, in full view of all the people at the Dusit Thani Manila that particular Sunday noon.
They all witnessed firsthand how much Jin loves to eat. (Shucks!)
You can get food from the hotel's four dining outlets:
Umu for Japanese
Basix for Continental
Benjarong for Thai
Tosca for Italian
We stationed ourselves at Umu, and it was the best choice as most of what we ate were from the Japanese stations.
My plates:
I very much enjoyed the Sukiyaki. It was not too sweet, and for a hotel buffet,
the quality of the beef was really good!
Sushi and salmon sashimi
Grilled salmon head
Cheeses, seeds, nuts and fruits
My friends' plates from which I stole bits and pieces:
Beef and shrimp teppanyaki
Salmon belly, shrimps, and vegetable teppanyaki
Ebi Tempura - this wasn't part of the buffet, but Jen and Irwin always get special treatment :)
Pad Thai
I love Benjarong (see my post here), but my favorite Thai noodles were bland and soggy that day :(
Of course, these were ALL MINE.
My rule when it comes to desserts: STRICTLY NO SHARING!!! :P
I say two hearts for Umu, and one heart to share among the other three.
Thank you, Jen and Sheryl, for the Sunday food coma! :)
