He brought me to Spices, an old favorite, for dinner.
I was excited to order the Goa Vindaloo, a Spices specialty of spicy hot and sour lamb curry with peppercorns.
But I had to be polite.
Jin: Do you eat spicy food?
Guy: Umm… Not really...
Jin: How come?
Guy: Because if I eat spicy food I will start sweating.
Jin: Oh. Pero may aircon naman dito eh!
Yam Pla Duk Fu - crispy catfish salad with green mango, lime and shallots.
Beautiful flavors, whets the appetite.
So we ended up ordering milder dishes.
Nali Rogan Josh - aromatic lamb shank cooked in Kashmiri dried chilies and clarified butter.
The curry was okay, but the meat was sooooo tough!
Pla Rad Phrik - deep fried codfish with sweet and spicy ginger sauce.
In our case, it was just sweet ginger sauce, hehehe :)
Thai Iced Tea
Guy: Shall we order dessert?
Jin: (Scanning the menu and eyeing the Chocolate Ginger Tart with Coconut Ice Cream) YES, OF COURSE! Do you have any preference?
Guy: The lighter-colored, the better. I don't really like dark-colored desserts.
Homaygoddddd!!!
Good thing I remembered The Peninsula makes a good King Oscar. We asked the waiter to order a slice from the hotel pastry shop.
King Oscar - as delicious as I remembered it to be
Light-colored desserts are not so bad after all. Plus, I still got my dark-colored "cherry" on top. :)
