Finally got to try Wildflour exactly two months ago.
Went with the best people, too - Cyrene, who's been there too often and knows exactly what to order; and Pat, who possesses incredible digestive superpowers to demolish all the food on the table.
Wildflour bakes its own breads and the ones we tried today were really impressive
Tarte Flambe - caramelized onions, smoked bacon, gruyere.
Sweet and savory things on a thin, crisp crust. Who can resist?
Grilled Cheese Sandwich. It's all about the bread.
Side green salad
Croque Madame. Not complaining about the size (this was ¼, it was huge!) but I thought
it needed more zing.
Bahn Mi Sliders. Delicious crispy little things.
Crispy Pig Ears the owners sent over for Cyrene to try
That's Cy, serious at work, and using the grilled cheese sandwich for wrist support :P
I love Wildflour's aura, feels so New York and Chicago. The savories were good although service was a bit spotty, but this was 60 days ago and I'm sure things have shaped up since.
What really won my three hearts over was Wilflour's sweets.
We ordered 4 + 1 desserts to share among the three of us.
Passion Fruit Cream Pie
Chocolate Pot de Creme
Pastel de Tres Leches
Peanut Butter Banana Cream Pie - my favorite of all!
I remember how Patrick dreamily said, on his first bite, with his eyes closed,
"It's all I imagined it would be…"
Cyrene and I bursted into uncontrollable laughter.
And then he began to get all protective over the pie, devouring it quickly, not wanting to share.
We had no choice but to order another one.
My espresso and our second slice. I admit I was overprotective of this one.
Will be back for the Sticky Buns and all these beautiful babies begging to be tried
