Someone spotted across my hotel a nice-looking food place called Pignol while spying on my location care of Google map.
"The one with red canopy. You just have to cross the square. Go there for breakfast. Go, go, go!"
Crossing the square wasn't exactly the first thing I wanted to do on a cold, rainy morning, but I was in Lyon, the gastronomic capital of France… and probably the world.
Dragging my ass off the heavenly Le Royal bed took a lot of willpower but am I happy I did.
There were all kinds of food in Pignol - salads, pates, olives, pastas, breads, sausages, cheeses,
fishes, meats, vegetables...
Breads and pastries, too!
The shop has everything.
Everything except tables, chairs, and my morning coffee.
The nice lady staff tipped me that there's another Pignol just two minutes away. "They have hot drinks, little cakes and very good and flaky mille-feuilles."
She got me at flaky.
I felt bad leaving her shop without buying anything so I grabbed a peach tart and ate it on the way.
Peach Tart. Devoured it in two minutes.
The Other Pignol
It was as she promised. Tables, chairs, coffee, and an endless selection of all things I love.
Chocolates
Macarons
Little cakes and tarts
Ordered a cup of cappuccino chantilly
And Pignol's bestseller, the mille-feuille
It was so light, so flaky, so crisp, so dreamy...
… It was gone in a minute
Jin loves to eat breakfast :)
Bought a pain au chocolat for my mid-morning snack
Wolfed down half of it even before I stepped out the shop :P
