The following photos tell the story of two good friends who almost died of hunger.
They ordered up a storm. Cova saved them.
Had some old favorites which tasted as perfect as the first time...
Ravioli de Rabo de Toro - oxtail, foie gras, shiitake mushrooms, oxtail jus
Mollejas de Ternera - veal sweetbreads, goat cheese puree, balsamic reduction
Huevos Cabreados - fried eggs, shoestring potatoes, crispy chorizo, alioli
Foie Gras con Manzanas - caramelized duck liver, apple puree
(they ran out of apple puree and gave us mashed potato)
Also tried some new dishes which instantly became new loves.
Tartar de Toro - fresh beef tenderloin, fresh egg yolk, chives, piparra, migas, crispy onions
Montadito de Sobrassada - sobrassada, gruyere cheese, caramelized onion, crisp bread
This salty-sweet combination was magic in my mouth!
Espuma Bacalao - salt cod foam, potatoes, olives, garlic confit
Salpicao de Mejillas de Ternera - wagyu veal cheeks, paprika, garlic, olive oil. OMG!!!
The only dish we wouldn't order again is the pretty red and black babies...
Pimientos Rellenos de Morcilla con su Salsa - piquillo peppers stuffed with
blood sausage, green apples, red pepper coulis
I wanted Pinkerton ice cream, but the one dessert available that night was the not-so-great Catalonian-style creme brûlée.
Crema Catalan
I originally wanted to try 2-3 more additional tapas. Thank God they were all out of stock. We could barely breathe after the meal!
Despite the dessert boo-boo, it was all in all a very good dinner. Cova is my favorite new restaurant and I can't wait to be back.
