Like any other ramen museum, the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum educates visitors about ramen, the different varieties, their origins, etc. etc. etc.
But unlike any other ramen museum, it went the extra mile by recreating Tokyo circa 1958, the year instant noodles were invented.
It was a delight walking through the place, like I was transported back in time to the old streets of Japan, the bus station, post office, barber shops, theaters, clinics, real estates offices, old houses, police stations, ramen shops...
I couldn't stop ooohhhing and aaahhhing and taking pictures of everything.
Couldn't resist the nostalgic photo op :)
My tummy got hungry when I saw all these people eating. I picked one out of the 9 ramen shops in the museum so I could start eating, too.
My choice was Kurume Taiho Ramen from Fukuoka Prefecture
I was enticed by the man in the poster. He looked really serious about his ramen.
First you buy a ramen ticket from the vending machine
See the sign? No sharing here!
Then you proceed to the shop, surrender your food ticket, sit, relax, and wait for your
piping hot bowl of ramen goodness
Cold green tea
Black Ramen
Tonkotsu Ramen
Spice up
And drink up
And like all other museums, there is a souvenir shop. I hoarded packed noodles and
all sorts of ramen knickknacks to share with family and friends
Of course, I had to take a souvenir photo.
