No cultural trip to Seoul is complete without having dinner at Sanchon
It's no lavish meal. You come here to eat Buddhist style food served in the mountain temples.
Buddhist temple food means vegetables, roots, fruits, tree barks, seaweeds and cereals.
They use no garlic, onion, scallions, red spices, artificial seasonings… and meat. Waaahhh.
Yes, you travel all the way to Seoul to eat like a horse.
Tonight's menu: Perilla seeds soup, bean curd, bing, assorted wild vegetables, kimchi, lettuce salad,
vegetable fries, jeon, chapchae, soy sauce boiled potatoes, boiled goso, deodeok muchim, rice,
vegetable pot stew, tea, oil and honey pastry. Can't say much for the food, but I love the reddish
wood bowls made from zelkova trees.
You come to Sanchon for the ambiance, traditional folk dance and Buddhist dance
Sorry, Buddha, but I really cannot eat like a monk
