Auntie Babyruth tells me Chef See is said to make the best laksa in Manila.
What she forgets to tell me is that Chef See is also the cutest chef in Manila.
Surprise, surprise!!! Yes, I have a major thing for bald and chinky-eyed guys who cook.
Lito, Mannix, Me, Chef Joie of Mabuhay Palace, Chef See of Enderun, Danny,
Auntie Babyruth, Ginny of Manila Hotel, Ricky of Intel, Chef Ian McKenzie of PAL
and his lovely wife Helen
Chef See’s Laksa
Soft egg noodles swimming amongst succulent pieces of shrimps, bouncy fish balls,
tasty sausages and fresh bean sprouts in a pool of hot and creamy curry broth tinged
with a hint of chili here and a hint of shrimp paste there
Sauces: Chili, Kecap Manis, Ginger
Cassava Cake with white raisins and chunky coconut strips. Yum.
Karen Yang, who is dining in the next room, brings over her
homemade Santol Jam for us to try
And also this plate of cheeses
It is a fun evening filled with good food, great company and lots of interesting stories.
We are the last guests to leave the place.
I blame it on Chef Ian and his bull testicles tales.
