The Original Savory, Del Monte-Banawe Branch

 

I have a 20-year old cousin who is such a good and responsible kid. Ever since his mom lost to cancer a few years ago, he’s been helping run the family business and at the same time, finishing his bachelor’s degree.

 

This Savory Del Monte-Banawe branch is his little baby

 

I don’t usually come all the way out to the Banawe area, but because I quite like this cousin, I make a special effort. And I guess he likes me, too, because today he feeds me like he would feed the entire population of China.

And so, like a Terracotta warrior, I attack the food with vengeance.

 

Chicken and Corn Soup – flavor’s okay but there’s a bit too much cornstarch.
He promises to adjust it so expect a yummier version when you come visit.

 

Lumpiang Shanghai – OMG! *Insert fireworks here* This is the most delicious lumpiang Shanghai I have ever had. Super tasty filling wrapped in the crispiest and crunchiest skin.
I’m prepared to walk all the way from Paranaque to Banawe just for this.

 

And for this Kikiam, too. It’s so flavorful I never felt the need to dip it in the sauce.

 

The Pancit Canton, as you can see, is overflowing with fillings. I like the fishball pieces. Pancit palang, ulam na.

 

The Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet is a bit too overpowering, but if you pair it with rice,
then it’s a good meal.

 

I wish the yolk were runnier so I could mix it with the Fried Rice, but that’s just me.
Different folks, different strokes.

 

And of course, THE Original Savory Chicken. Look at how crisp the skin is.
I can never tire of eating this.

 

They sell mini snacks, too. I buy a pack of Choc-Nut for dessert. Hehe.

 

And look at what I found. Savory Hot & Spicy Chili Sauce! I wonder if this is available in all the other branches.

 

They deliver tenderness, tastiness and juiciness for free. What are you still waiting for?
