We’re fresh off the plane and ready for some serious Taiwanese food pork out session. Usually we’d go to the original branch of Shin Yeh, but tonight Ninang Ann Marie wants to bring us to this new place in Sogo Fuxing called Gingko which serves Taiwanese favorites with a modern twist.
I am a modern girl. I like modern twists.
The napkin and chopsticks are so chic
I miss Taiwanese food terribly. I want to order each and every item on the menu but I know my manners and suggest a few dishes only. Luckily, Ninang knows me well and orders up a storm, or better yet, a tsunami. Thank you, Ninang, I promise diet starts tomorrow!
Everything is mouthwateringly delicious I outperform myself once again. Help me God.
Oil chicken – tender and silky
Steamed pork patty topped with egg yolk – Auntie Babie almost dies when she discovers the yellow gunk is actually egg yolk and not squash puree. Too. Funny.
Steamed boiled pork belly with brown sauce
Oyster with black bean sauce – so plump and juicy
Marinated pig intestines – could be fattier, hehe
Pan fried pig liver – my cousin Cherry’s favorite
Clams with chayote – so light and refreshing
Taiwanese omelet with dried radish – always a winner
Stir fried A vegetable – one of my favorite vegetables
Even this unknown item (bean paste, is that you?) is mighty delicious
Camote congee – the only carb way to go
Some tea to help burn the calories
(Although I seriously doubt it will help even if I drink everyone else’s share)
What a perfect first meal in Taipei. Thank you, Ninang!
