I walk a long way from the hotel to get this shot. Still I am not able to fit the whole structure in. That Marina Bay Sands is big, that is the understatement of the year. It is ginormous, cyclopean, elephantine, super colossal BIG.
This is where I take the shot, standing side by side with the Helix Bridge
Colorful reception desk. Looks huge but is actually just a tiny little part of …
The whole development. Three hotel towers, a rooftop paradise perched on the three towers, an art and science museum, an art path, world class theaters, world class casino, world class shops, and world class culinary delights!
There are reception desks in every tower. This one is in tower 2, I think.
Well-stocked fridge, but everything comes with a price. A very high one.
“Please be aware that items removed for more than 30 seconds will automatically be charged to your account.” What??? I can’t even hold and admire the chocolate bars?
I think I’ve just developed a dislike for modern hi-tech refs.
Singapore on a beautiful Wednesday morning
Oh no!!! Singapore sinking on a beautiful Wednesday morning…
… NOT!!! It is my view of Singapore on a beautiful Wednesday morning
from the Sands SkyPark.
Perched on three soaring hotel towers, the 200m high SkyPark is a structural masterpiece
My favorite spot. Makes me feel like I’m floating on top of the world.
This is but a small part of the 12,400 sqm SkyPark
My next favorite spot. Perfect for cooling down under the unforgiving Singapore sun
Look at the little boy having the time of his life
Pocket jaccuzis where you and your special someone can share wet romantic moments
Still a work in progress. Can’t wait to come back when everything’s complete.
After swimming for a total of half a lap, I am as hungry as a hippopotamus. So I go back to my room and order room service for lunch.
Prosciutto e Funghi – tomato sauce, mushrooms, parma ham, goat cheese
I don’t know about you, but whenever I go swimming, I crave for pizza.
Good while it’s hot but can definitely use more toppings.
Laksa – look at all those ingredients! I haven’t even reached the noodles and I am full already. The coconut broth could be a little spicier.
Hainanese Chicken Rice – the chicken is silky and really tasty that I sometimes forget to dip it in the sauces. Even better than Wee Nam Kee and Boon Tong Kee, I daresay.
Apple Galette – five spice roasted apples, caramelized puff pastry, almond cream
You should know that by this time I am already bursting at the seams, yet I manage to finish the whole apple thing. So good it rocks my world.
Okay, it’s time to walk off all that food
The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands
Hmmm… Venetian gondola ride, is that you?
Nah, this is the Marina Bay Sands’ Sampan Ride. No singing here.
BEANstro by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Cute!
Some shop celebrating its grand opening. Fire, water, drums, beats, this is
Asia’s very own Blue Man Group.
“No Photography” signs everywhere. But what the heck.
I hereby present to you, The Marina Bay Sands Casino.
And the awkward-looking casino ceiling
Marina Bay Sands is truly becoming Asia’s new culinary epicenter. Imagine Daniel Boulud, Tetsuya Wakuda, Guy Savoy, Santi Santamaria, Mario Batali, Justin Quek, and Wolfgang Puck, all in one place.
Perhaps I might decide not to leave anymore.
No need to fly 8 hours to Sydney. Tetsuya is finally in Asia!
25 seats. Dinner only.
2 weeks advance reservation, 2 weeks on waitlist, 5 phone calls to follow up on the day itself, still no luck. Boo. Next trip, baby, next trip.
