It is not very often that our family is complete. My sister and her family live in Virginia. I lived in Taipei for 5 years, then Hong Kong for 3, before I moved back to Manila early this year. All of us together in one place, at one time, that is precious.
So when my sister’s whole family came to visit last year, I booked my ticket right away. A long and much awaited family reunion coinciding with my sister’s birthday... I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

To celebrate this very rare occasion, we had:

Hojaldres de Espinacas Savory phyllo pastry triangles with spinach, blue cheese and pine nuts
Gambas al Ajillo Baby prawns, olive oil, garlic, chili
Chorizo Frito Pan fried Spanish sausages, caramelized onions and peppers
Insalata di Gorgonzola Baby greens, apples, gorgonzola, walnuts, apple vinaigrette
Filetto di Pesce con Capperi e Limone Pan-fried fillet of Apahap, lemon caper buerre blanc with pappardelle al burro
Paella Marinera Sea bass, mussels, clams, and baby prawns in saffron seasoned rice
Paella Montaña Portabella mushrooms, asparagus, roasted garlic and truffle oil in saffron seasoned rice
And of course, Conchinillo Asado! Oven-roasted suckling pig
We murdered it!!! But for a good cause. (Yeah, to contribute to that 20-lb. gain!)
And for dessert, halo-halo from Milky Way. Yum.
